Our Vehicles

As much as we build various commercial vehicle bodies as seen in our gallery, we do offer the Bodycraft Low Loader Luton Van and the Low Floor Curtainside Body, both built on a specialist low chassis with Fiat Ducato Cab, these vehicles are 3500kgs gross vehicle weight. We have diversified our business to build and sell these vehicles to customers via our website, it has been part of our business that we have wanted to develop over the years and we finally succeeded when we found the ideal chassis that offers customers a better option for more cubic space but still only a standard height body. Our standard high body offers approx 25 cubic metres of loading space. Read about our build process below and get in touch today.

The sample image on the left shows how we receive the cab and chassis, to begin the process of building the body. The chassis is a light weight galvanised construction to offer strength but also allow us to build a low step in body. We also build on the Platform version of the Fiat and Renault base vehicles

Below is showing the chassis’ in the first process of build, fixing the Luton Pod and Side Collars.

We use Plastic Honeycomb panels for the sides to keep the weight of the body as low as possible and either a 12mm or 15mm Phenol coated floor sheet depending on the customers’ specification to try to give the end user a bigger payload.

The sides have Aluminium Corner Pillars and Aluminium Rave sections, with a tread plate wheel arch panel.

The wheel arch box in the Low Floor Curtainside body has a lift up door to enable the wheel to be changed should this be necessary.

We use an Aluminium wheel arch box which can be either with a radius finish (as above) or finished square for the purpose of stacking onto, once again it is down to the customers’ specification but our standard is the radius finish.

Our standard tie rail is 4 rows of timber tie each side, but as in the picture on the left we can offer Load Lok as an extra.

The roof is GRP roof sheet bonded to roof sticks, with an Aluminium Cant Rail.

Our Low Floor Curtainside body (picture left) is a new concept offering the 585mm step height at the rear and slightly lower entrance in through the side, it can be altered in length to give different pallet options.

The curtain system has locking doors to the front and rear and the curtain runs with top and bottom rollers in a curtain track due to the low floor, there is not the room for standard ratchets as on other vehicles.

We fit rear barn doors as standard on both the Low Loader Luton Van and the Low Floor Curtainside bodies but we can fit either roller or roof type shutters if the customer requires.

We build 2 different height variations of the Low Loader Luton Van and the Low Floor Curtainside,

  1. Mid roof at 2350mm to the roof stick.
  2. High roof at 2650mm to the roof stick.

Both vehicles are 2180mm wide

The length of the standard Low Loader Luton Van is 4500mm (body internal), the Low Floor Curtainside is optional up to 4900mm (external)

We can build different length bodies but obviously this can affect the payload of the finished vehicle.
